Jonathan is fascinated by our insatiable drive to assert control over the earth and beyond in our image. This anthropocentric impulse, while responsible for remarkable achievements, brings a host of unintended consequences. Using acrylic and discarded materials, Jonathan creates paintings that are often a reduction of rich, complex environments into utilitarian non-places devoid of intrinsic meaning. He seeks to draw parallels between the digital and the physical, between the quotidian immediate and the cosmic.
